1. General terms
To proceed with an online order, agreement is necessary. You will be asked to agree terms when you go to the checkout, and will be automatically directed to this page. You can register your agreement by clicking the box at the foot of the page. You must be over 18 years of age to buy wine from our website. If wine is being delivered to an alterntive address, the person receiving the wine must be over 18, proof of age may be required upon receiving deliveries.
All wines are quoted per 75cl bottle (unless otherwise stated). Prices include UK duty and UK Value Added Tax (VAT) applicable at the time of payment
All goods must be paid for prior to dispatch.
Payment may be made using our secure server, Protx, by Visa / Mastercard / JCB / Maestro / Solo / American Express.
We accept payment by cheque (payable to Best Cellars Limited) and should be drawn on a bank domiciled in the UK. We reserve the right to withhold dispatch until the cheque has cleared
We reserve the right to make alternative arrangements for payment for larger orders, e.g. bankers draft or electronic bank transfer.
If preferred, credit card details can be given over the telephone or by fax.
4. Delivery Charges and Time Schedule
We only deliver to UK addresses. The following delivery charges apply:
£7.50 (inc VAT) per delivery address, for all orders under £175.00
ORDERS £175.00 OR ABOVE, TO A SINGLE ADDRESS, WILL BE DELIVERED FREE OF CHARGE to UK addresses but excluding Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly.
For multiple delivery address orders going to more than one address a separate delivery charge of £7.50 applies to each address. If any address on a multiple order is receiving goods worth over £175 then that address will qualify for free delivery but other addresses on the same order will incur a £7.50 charge per address.
For multiple deliveries to more than one person at the SAME address, enter the name and address of each recipient separately. You will not be charged more than one delivery charge if the first line of the address, the postcode and the delivery date match with another recipient on your order.
Dispatch will occur only on payment of all charges.
Goods to the Mainland UK (excluding Isle of Wight, Scottish Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland) will be delivered NEXT WORKING DAY (Monday - Friday excluding Bank Holidays) providing the order is received by 2.30 pm UK time.
Orders received after 2.30pm UK time will be DISPATCHED on the following working day and delivered as above.
Deliveries will be made during OFFICE HOURS ON WEEK-DAYS, unless a Saturday delivery is specifically requested and the additional charge paid. Please telephone to arrange additional payment for the Saturday delivery charge if this service is required.
We do not deliver or dispatch on bank holidays. We do not dispatch on Saturdays and we only deliver on Saturdays by specific prior arrangement, at an additional cost (see below).
We do not guarantee the time of day for deliveries. However, if a particular time is required, it can be arranged at an additional cost.
SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS deliveries may take two working days.
NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTTISH ISLANDS, ISLE OF WIGHT, THE ISLE OF MAN, ISLES OF SCILLY, deliveries will take longer. We anticipate 3 - 5 working days. For these particular areas our standard delivery charges apply but we have to restrict orders to 12 bottles or less. If over 12 bottles are required, please contact us to discuss delivery charges.
Standard delivery costs will be shown on the order confirmation. Any additional delivery charges, such as Saturday delivery or timed services, will not appear on the automatic order confirmation. We will send a separate manual confirmation of charges.
SATURDAY DELIVERIES must be specifically requested and will incur an additional charge. The additional charge, on top of our standard delivery charge, is £15 (inc VAT) for 1 - 2 bottles, or £20 for 3 - 12 bottles. Saturday deliveries are guaranteed before noon.
SPECIAL DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS - If you do not expect to be home to receive your wine, you may leave special delivery instructions (e.g. leave in garage). We are happy to pass these instructions to our carriers, however, neither we nor the carriers will accept responsibility should the wines be lost, stolen, or damaged as a result of such instructions being followed. Please use the 'Delivery Instructions' Box on the final order page.
IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFORMATION: Please ensure the correct address is provided and recipients are able to accept deliveries. If the property is within a locked compound it becomes very difficult for our couriers to deliver and is such cases we will require a phone number so we can contact the recipient to arrange the delivery prior to dispatch. We would strongly recommend, when sending gifts to friends, that you use a work address for delivery if possible and also include a contact number for them.
5. Returns / Guarantees / Cancellation
We will provide a full refund for any wines that are deemed to be out of condition. We may require these wines to be returned to us and will ensure that all costs are credited.
Any breakages will be replaced free of charge, providing the carrier has been informed at the time of delivery. We must be advised of breakages or shortages within three days of the delivery date.
Cancellation - You have the right to cancel your order, for any reason, within 7 working days from the day you receive the goods. You will however have to pay the cost of returning the goods to us. We will refund the balance of your money within 30 days of any cancellation.
6. Order confirmation
When an order is placed, a confirmation of the order will be emailed back to you shortly afterward. This serves as a FULL V.A.T. INVOICE for the wines and delivery. No financial details will be included with the wines when they are delivered, whether they are delivered to billing address or other addresses.
Please note, our confirmation email is AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED. Occasionally, certain servers filter it out as 'spam' and ban it. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please let and know and we will send one manually.
7. Vintage and Availability
We will always try to ensure that wines are of the vintages quoted on our list, however if one vintage becomes exhausted, the next available vintage will replace it. If this policy is unacceptable, please let us know and we will try to make alternative arrangements to suit you.
Please note that some of the pictures of wine labels show previous vintages that are no longer available. The vintages given in the text descriptions of wines are checked and updated regularly.
If a particular product that is ordered is out of stock, you will be advised as to when the goods are likely to be dispatched. An alternative product may be offered and we will confirm details before dispatching. Occasionally with mixed cases of wine, we reserve the right to substitute one wine for another of similar quality if a particular wine is out of stock.
8. Security and Privacy
All personal details will be kept strictly private and confidential and will not be shared with any other party. Our payment service provider, Protx, uses a secure server (128 BIT encryption).
We take great care to ensure that our own computer systems are protected by up to date firewalls and anti-virus programs.
